Staff Coffeehouse Picks!

Ever want to mix up the routine and try a new coffee shop? Us Portlanders love our java and this week we want to share Mink's personal favorite spots in town.
Leela's favorite grounds come from NW 21st, Coffee Time, where after 22 years they've started roasting their own beans! It's a cozy establishment with lots of options. Whether you want Kombucha on tap in seasonal flavors or a delicious panini, you don't even have to get coffee, but these summer temps call for their special cold brew on nitro with a gluten-free pastry from Petunia's Vegan Gluten Free Bakery right here in Portland. Plop down in the open-air seating zone for some great people-watching along the sidewalk.
Rachel's go-to spot is SeeSee Motor Coffee Co. on NE 16th & Burnside. Her friends opened the shop close to her house 5 years ago, so she wanted to support them. Its unpretentious motorcycle-themed atmosphere and friendly baristas/shop workers are why she feels like she can stay a while, whether it be hanging solo, working, or visiting with friends. Normally she just grabs a cup with cream, but if she has a sweet tooth you might find her splurging on a mocha with coconut milk. Yum!
Carla's holy grail is Albina Press on SE Hawthorne & 50th. Her favorite thing about getting coffee in the morning is that they always remember her kids and are super friendly! They brew Portland-roasted beans which is important to Carla because we like to support the local economy, not big names that are remotely owned. The flavor matches the quality here, and she's all about their almond milk lattes.
What's your favorite coffee house? We love our coffee and we love to try new places! Let us know in the comments.
