Rachel's Street Style: 3 Comfortable Yet Stylish Date Night Ideas
Posted on 15 February 2018
Valentine's Day may be over but true love is more than a one-day thing, right? In honor of the love month, I wanted to show off some of my favorite date night outfits. Whether you're having a girls night with the ladies, going on a date with hubby or going on a coffee date with your furry friend, all three outfit looks include the same pair of super comfortable dark denim jeans. Surprise surprise! My current faves are the Dreamer Jeans by, Principle denim. This “At Last” wash is not only a dark indigo, but its clean, meaning there’s not whiskers or distressing on the front or back. I lovingly refer to this type of jeans as “cocktail jeans.” Basically, it means they’re super easy to dress up and with the right pair of shoes and jewelry you could rock these to a cocktail party. I mean…c’mon…its Portland. We don’t get THAT dressed up 'round these parts.
Romantic Date: So here we are, a theoretic romantic/dressy evening awaits me. Whether its dinner or cocktails, I still want to be as comfortable as possible. I’ve got my dark denim jeans but now we have to take them up a notch. Enter my simple yet, elegant blouse with ruffle sleeves. As unexciting as black is to some people, it easily translates to formal and I can create a blank canvas for my jewelry because that’s what is really going to take this combination to the next level. I know everyone has different preferences, but for me gold makes me feel fancy so I’m going to layer my go-to necklace-choker combo by Ayumi Angel jewelry (yes, she’s new, local and available in-store). To top off my look I'll wear my fun red Dansko shoes (thanks, Imeldas) and this metallic gold-wool tote. Perfect for sneaking left-overs and the mini jams and crackers they have on the tables home in. Ha!
Doggie Date with Otto: Meet Otto, he and I are going to grab a coffee at our favorite Twin Peaks inspired coffee joint, aptly named, “PEAKS”! We’re keeping it casual and light today so I’m rocking my new “Checked Out Tank” by Nic+Zoe . My super soft and fuzzy cardigan by Sleeping in Sound. For this look, I tucked my blouse into my Principle Denim, “Cocktail jeans” and added a belt to really create definition and balance between my torso and legs. You could wear flats or a short booty, but since it's still technically winter out I wanted to wear my black knee-high boots.
Ladies Night Out: I have very fashion savvy friends, so I like to try and keep up without looking like I’m trying too hard. For this look, I’ve decided to go with denim on denim. It was love at first sight for me and this Denim Ruffle Blouse by, Nic+Zoe. Its light chambray fabric is a perfect complimentary color with my dark denim cocktail jeans. See how these solid jeans perfectly dress up the top. It’s a nicely balanced outfit so you can go from a nice dinner at 3 Doors Down to after dinner drinks at Gold Dust Meridian and still be dressed perfectly for both places.
What's is your favorite look?
